About Fulfilling-Career-Choices & Rob Ozanne
This is my opportunity to share with you a little about myself and how Fulfilling-Career-Choices came into being. My name is Rob Ozanne, graduate of Philosophy and Politics, Self-Employed, Personal Coach, Operations Manager for Energy Alchemy, Development Officer for Spirit of Peace, Writer, Adventurer, 24 25, Student of Truth and I will be Enlightened in this life or the next. Not quite as dramatic an introduction as Russell Crowe in Gladiator,
but certainly less brutal so it will do for now!

"When I grow up, I want to be like this guy!" (Yes that is me on the right)
Background to Fulfilling-Career-ChoicesAround 16 or 17 years old I started seeing that society was very structured, kind of like the motorway. Would you like to go left or right? Study Maths or English? Go to Warwick or Oxford University? Be an accountant or a lawyer? These are all different roads people can take. It seems like these roads present completely free choices. I spent a year, after University, trying to fit in to one of these conventional options. Eventually I realised that none of the roads ahead would be fulfilling for me. Staying on the road is safe but also severely limits your options. What about the possibility of going ‘off road’? Traditional careers advice never goes beyond the structures of the career motorway. They encourage your to find a place where you can fit into the existing structure. When it comes to career choices ‘one-size-does-NOT-fit-all’. Everyone has unique experiences, gifts and talents. This potential cannot be fulfilled by blindly travelling down a generic road with everybody else. I am not necessarily saying do not aim for conventional career objectives; rather do avoid the traffic jams along the way! When I started going ‘off-road’ I soon discovered that whilst there are not any traffic jams, there sure are some steep hills! For instance, when deciding to train as a Personal Coach, I found my head was filled with stories about what a coach should or should not be, and how I could not do it. It was all rubbish. I discovered that people also have structures or patterns of behaviours. Like in society these patterns are unconscious and unquestioned. The effect is that people keep making the same choices. They drive up and down the same road continuously repeating the same experiences. Consequently their lives go nowhere fast. In order to craft the career I wanted I first had to see a new ‘off-road’ possibility, and then move past the limitations of my own internal structures to start making it happen. Fulfilling-Career-Choices is my way of sharing what I have learnt about going ‘off-road’ and freeing myself from the unquestioned and unconscious structures in society and myself. Through this I hope to inspire other people to start to see beyond the limitations of traditional career choices and internal structures that prevent them from experiencing a truly fulfilling career. Mission StatementFulfilling-Career-Choices.com helps people craft the career they really want by discovering who they really are. It does this with: - Free articles to raise awareness of the unquestioned structures within society and ourselves. These help readers discover new possibilities for themselves.
- Further resources to provide specific guidance for pursuing an ‘off-road’ career path.
- Coaching to challenge and support the leaders of tomorrow to fulfil their potential to shape a new world around themselves.
Personal MotivationsThis project is a vehicle for my top three values: self-expression, growth, high quality experiences. Through Fulfilling-Career-Choices I am crafting the opportunity to: - Create something beautiful
- Be inspired by people moving beyond their former limitations
- Be of service through fully expressing myself.
My VisionFulfilling-Career-Choices is a pebble I am throwing into the stagnant world of careers. The aim is to send out ripples of awareness that will eventually impact the way in which people collectively choose to work. This is a very meaningful picture for me, taken during my post-university travels. The time is sun rise. The place is on top of the tallest man-made construction in Belize - the ancient Mayan Caana (meaning ‘Sky Place’) Temple in Caracol.

I arrived there after 5 weeks, living, working and trekking in the remote jungle. Until then I had been at ground level, in amongst the trees. The immediate priorities were as much comfort as possible, and avoiding the array of things that could spike or bite me. This photo captures a magical moment. I had climbed up the temple in the dark. So now the sun was rising to unveil the whole jungle stretching all the way to the horizon. From my travel journal (which still smells of jungle!): “In the jungle you aren’t thinking about the future, but considerations like the next meal or being aware of snakes etc. However, here we have had lots of empty time which has allowed me to empty my mind.” This website is intended to create a similar space for people in terms of their careers. By raising peoples' perspective out of the trees, their focus shifts from immediate career concerns to the ocean of possibility that is unfolding all the way to the edge of the world. Fulfilling-Career-Choices shares this level of vision with the business, political and social leaders of tomorrow. This lays the foundations for opening up the structures of society that limit career and life fulfilment in the first place.
